The San Manuel Human Resources department provides exceptional
internal and external customer support while driving Human
Resources (HR) functional excellence and process improvement. This

As an integral part of the Human Resources team, the Benefits
Analyst will be responsible for benefit plan interpretation,
guidance, and counsel to all internal and external stakeholders as
well as retirement plan administrative tasks. Acts as the primary
point of contact to employees regarding benefit eligibility,
coverage, and other related benefits matters while ensuring the
highest level of customer service is delivered to all employees,
vendors and plan participants.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Address employee inquiries related to all benefit plans. Provide
employees with plan information and instructions for navigating
their health care system. Conduct and coordinate benefit education
meetings (i.e., NEO, 401(K), Open Enrollment, wellness).
Assist in the ongoing benefit (i.e., health and welfare,
retirement, and wellness) program administration and new program
implementations. Monitors eligibility, limitations, and
restrictions of plan participants and ensures compliance with both
plan provisions and government requirements.
Perform data compilation and analysis necessary to complete
monthly premium billings and payments, vendor data requests,
government compliance activities (ACA, Non-Discrimination Testing,
5500s, audits, etc.), Open Enrollment, employee mailings, and
updating reports for management.
Perform retirement plan administrative activities including, but
not limited to: processing 401(k) deferral and loan changes,
facilitating hardship withdrawals, in-service requests, and
residential loan requests.
Work closely with carrier accounting representatives, Finance,
and Payroll to research and resolve benefit-payment discrepancies.
Monitors benefit payment arrears, LOA benefit payments and issues
notices to employees.
Responsible for the administration of COBRA compliance. Monitors
enrollment, applies subsidies and coordinates the Open Enrollment
process for COBRA participants.
Act as the Fire Department liaison in relation to health and
welfare benefits (i.e., education, addressing sensitive issues,
responding to information requests).
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient
operation of the department.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human
Resources or related field required.
- Minimum of (3) three years' experience with benefits
- Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant
and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum
educational/experience requirements indicated above.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of
benefit plan administration, policies and procedures best
practices, and the ability to effectively interpret, apply and
communication such information appropriately.
- Prior experience with benefit compliance activities (i.e.,
5500s, 401(k) disclosures, 401(k) audit process, RMDs, annual
true-up process) preferred.
- Prior experience with Workday preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, complex
environment with shifting priorities while executing the benefits
- Proficient in utilizing the Microsoft Office suite of products
and HRIS systems and software.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission
you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
- A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver's
license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the
company's insurance carrier.
