Industrial Products – Job Description Position Summary The
Production Planner is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and
managing all aspects of Production Level 3 Job Travelers (J/T) and
Job Pick Lists to ensure jobs are accurately documented, properly
prioritized, and released to the production schedule. This position
ensures that all production instructions, product specifications,
and customer requirements are met in compliance with AS9100 Rev D
standards, internal quality procedures, and ITAR regulations. The
Production Planner plays a key role in aligning cross?functional
communication between Customer Service, Sales, Estimating,
Purchasing, and Production to ensure jobs flow efficiently through
manufacturing. This role also evaluates labor requirements,
material availability, machine capacity, and production constraints
to support on?time delivery and continuous improvement. Duties &
Responsibilities Collaborate closely with Customer Service, Sales,
Estimating, Purchasing, and Production to interpret job
requirements, historical documentation, and process instructions to
accurately plan and schedule production jobs. Review, prepare, and
distribute the daily production schedule for each manufacturing
department (e.g., Slitting, Rotary, Stamping, etc.), ensuring the
Operations Manager is kept informed of all updates. Facilitate and
support problem?solving activities for jobs requiring revisions,
corrections, rework, or expedited handling. Act as the
communication bridge between Customer Service and Production
regarding schedule delays, machine downtime, material shortages,
cutting issues, or part overages. Create, maintain, and adjust
daily/weekly Production Schedules based on job demand and priority
from the Job Creator. Review all jobs for accuracy, material
availability, due dates, and documentation completeness before
adding them to the production schedule. Assist in preparing
materials for shipment to the Mexico manufacturing facility ,
including documentation, part labels, and packing slips. Maintain
constant communication with Manufacturing Supervisors, Production
Managers, and process leads to gather and clarify job instructions
for new parts or updated manufacturing requirements. Report and
escalate issues that impact production flow, including material
constraints, to the appropriate departments such as Purchasing or
Operations. Record purchasing details and expected material arrival
dates on Job Pick Lists to support planning and scheduling
accuracy. Communicate delivery status changes, revised customer due
dates, and production delays to internal departments as needed.
Work closely with the Production Supervisor to coordinate job
sequencing and effective schedule execution. Recommended Skills &
Qualifications High School Diploma/GED required; Strong proficiency
with MRP software; experience with Epicor/Vantage Systems a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Excellent
analytical, organizational, and problem?solving skills with strong
attention to detail. Proven ability to create production reports,
analyze data trends, and support root?cause problem?solving. Strong
interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to
work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks
simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a
team environment and follow up on outstanding items.
