Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Registered

license Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides
comprehensive nursing care. Responsibilities include executing
orders from Licensed Independent Providers. The RN dispenses and
administers medications as required. Assists Licensed Independent
Providers in examinations and treatment of patients. Applies
nursing and supervisory techniques required in the care and
treatment of patients. Performs all technical and clinical
procedures within the scope of education and licensure. Applies
appropriate nursing skills in the treatment of patients. Attends
sick calls with physicians to see patients. Prepares a list of
patients to be examined and prepares examining rooms and equipment.
Operates pill call, dispenses medication, and documents as required
by applicable policies and procedures. Calls Licensed Independent
Providers for medication and treatment orders or emergencies.
Examines and assesses new patients with illnesses or injuries.
Refers patients to emergency rooms or other healthcare facilities
as required. Performs emergency procedures as needed and notifies
Licensed Independent Providers for treatment orders. Assists in
coordinating professional medical services provided by contract
personnel. Schedules patients considering necessary medical
services. Monitors patient hospitalizations for early releases
whenever appropriate. Provides guidance, supervises, and monitors
nursing care provided by staff. Maintains good working
relationships with facility staff and medical staff. Utilizes
established policies and procedures in decision-making while using
sound judgment. Regularly evaluates the provision of medical
services to prevent inappropriate use. Maintains absolute security
and confidentiality of all medical records. Assists in reviewing
medical files to ensure all services are documented. Closely
monitors all potential catastrophic illnesses. Audits pharmacy use
for adherence to formulary as directed. Complies with all
applicable pharmacy laws, especially regarding controlled
substances. Observes and records patient behavior. Inspects medical
units for items that could be used as contraband. Provides health
counseling and education on an individual or group basis. Assists
in preparing and maintaining a variety of operational records and
reports. Reads, analyzes, comprehends, and interprets medical
procedures and documents. Reviews and processes lawsuits and
attends court hearings as necessary. Evaluates and recommends
safety requirements to provide a safe working environment. Prepares
and disseminates safety and accident reports as required by
policies. Takes appropriate action in cases of serious incidents
and emergencies. Escorts patients or coordinates their movement for
medical treatment. Performs searches of people and objects to
detect and identify contraband. Engages in functions in confined
areas, working rotating shifts if necessary. Takes appropriate
action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations.
Performs rescue functions at emergencies, including administering
basic medical aid. Secures and evacuates individuals from confined
